Domaine Bergeville l’Intégrale 2021

Appalachian Plateau, Quebec

Tasting Note This traditional method sparkling wine is pale yellow in colour with an aromatic nose of melon, citrus and brioche. The palate has similar fruit flavours with a juicy, chalky acidity and very generous and fine bubbles. It is made from a blend of cold-hardy hybrid varieties: 48% frontenac blanc, 31% L’Acadie blanc, 20% St-Pepin, and 1% frontenac gris. Tangy, dry (brut nature) with mouth-watering acidity and an atypical alcohol level of 13.4% ABV, reflective of the warm vintage. Consistently very good year after year and even better in magnum. Certified organic. Tasted October 2025.

Backgrounder Domaine Bergeville is Quebec’s premier sparkling house, making a wide range of fizz from cold-hardy hybrid grape varieties. The winery is located in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, where winters are cold and summers are hot. Scientists by training, Eve Rainville and her husband, Marc Théberge, set up shop in 2008. They believe that Quebec’s Nordic climate, or “nordicity” as they call it, is well suited to sparkling-wine production and could or should be Quebec’s signature wine style. The grape varieties, listed above, are largely high-acid Minnesota hybrid varieties that have allowed them to make sparkling wines of depth and character, always with a signature juicy acidity and balance.
