Tasting Note: This lovely, pleasant pinot builds on my impression that winemaker Lawrence Buhler has really found a groove with this grape, right through the pinot line-up.  There is this sense of veracity, energy and ripeness to the fruit. As always however Henry of Pelham has a softer more tender style – a bit more wood and just a gentler more widely appealing ambiance. This shows classic pinot red cherry/strawberry fruit with some red rose and herbal/shrubby character. It is light to medium bodied and mild mannered. The length is excellent.

Backgrounder: Henry of Pelham was established by the Speck Family in 1988, growing to almost 300 acres in the Short Hills Bench sub-appellation of the Niagara Escarpment. Speck Family Reserve is the top tier. Veteran Niagara winemaker Lawrence Buhler has clearly found his place since joining Henry of Pelham in 2018. From vineyard to bottling this a certified sustainable operation.
