Tasting Note: The wine opens with fresh herbal and wild strawberry aromas and continues with tobacco leaf and graphite and a snap of acidity. Dry, fresh and reminiscent of Loire-style cabernet franc with the electricity and sumptuousness that is unmistakably Okanagan. The tannins are ripe and smooth, while a delicate floral and red currant and berries round out a gravelly, long finish. While the alcohol is 14.2%, remains discreet, letting the wine’s freshness lead. A slight chill will make it even more attractive.
Backgrounder: Cabernet Franc is stepping confidently into the spotlight worldwide, and British Columbia is no exception. Among the producers pushing the conversation forward, Synchromesh is one of the reference points, known first for its site specific rieslings and increasingly for cabernet franc that captures place with clarity. While the winery is based in Okanagan Falls, the Dickinson family’s farming footprint stretches beyond, from the northern reaches of Naramata down to the Golden Mile Bench in Oliver. Storm Haven lies at the centre of it all and serves as home base and the heartland of Synchromesh. Within the 107-acre Storm Haven property in Okanagan Falls, four acres are planted to cabernet franc on sandy loam scattered with fractured granite and quartz. Grape growing is intentionally low‑intervention, with no synthetic or chemical additives and guided by a holistic approach that prioritizes ecological balance over manipulation. The Storm Haven label signifies the pinnacle of what this site can deliver in any given vintage and is a snapshot of the vineyard’s complexity and wildness in the bottle
