Tasting Note This is an expressive and bright light-bodied red with vibrant and fruit-forward red raspberry and cranberry character. There is a gentle herbal and floral character on the nose, with light and crunchy berry fruit replays on the palate, supported by smooth tannins and a kick of balanced acidity on the finish. It is light in colour and body yet far from simple, sharing a similarity with delicately framed cool‑climate reds, which are especially appealing when served slightly chilled. Balanced, juicy and approachable.
Backgrounder Fielding celebrated its twentieth anniversary in 2025 and is a true multi-generational family affair. Ken and Marg Fielding, along with son Curtis, opened the winery in 2005, after a successful career in the fast-food business. They purchased a 20-acre peach orchard on the Beamsville Bench in 2000 that was replanted to grape vines — twice, to get the varieties right — and also purchased an established vineyard closer to Lake Ontario. Fruit from both are in this wine. Today, the winery is under the helm of Curtis, a former race-car driver, and his wife, Heidi, whose focus is on delivering a welcoming hospitality experience in every corner of the property. You can enjoy year-round tastings: in the outdoor Vineyard Lounge in warm months, as well as in the Wine Lodge or outdoor heated, transparent domes, which Fielding was among the first to implement during the pandemic. This gamay is a blend of estate and grower fruit aged for four months in neutral oak.
