Tasting Note – This is a very amenable, suave style of cabernet franc with both freshness and richness. It captures ripe raspberry/cranberry fruit from a great vintage, a lovely rosemary expression of cab franc herbals, plus coffee/cocoa notes and an aristocratic texture thanks to almost three years in French oak. It is medium-full bodied, almost svelte and satiny with fresh acidity, some 14.5% alcohol heat and very fine chalky tannin. Comes together very nicely and the flavours hit excellent to outstanding length. This is fine to enjoy now and should roll nicely for another ten years.
Backgrounder – The 2020 Cabernet Franc continues the tradition of distinguished Cabernet Franc at Two Sisters. Grapes were sourced exclusively from the Two Sisters Estate vineyard, located within the unique Niagara River sub-appellation. Yields were carefully managed to ensure optimal flavour development and concentration. The fruit was hand harvested after extended time on the vine to maximize ripeness and flavour, then allowed to ferment slowly in contact with the skins, and finally gently aged for 36 months in Oak barriques, 100% French.
