Tasting Note The obvious observation is that this rose is not very pink. More like salmon brass, or pink gold. Very appealing. There is lively, sweet strawberry/cherry and crab apple fruit on the nose, with fine shortbread, pastry and vague nuttiness. I got an echo of dried orange peel and spice in the nose and palate as well. That same fruit presence is also immediate on the palate. It is light bodied, dry and firm but not the least austere. Quite mineral on the finish, with excellent to outstanding length. I was charmed and impressed!
BackgrounderThis is a blend of 70% pinot noir and 30% chardonnay. The grapes were whole cluster pressed and each variety was fermented separately. After fermentation the wines were blended and re-inoculated with yeast and bottled to go through secondary fermentation. This was aged on its lees in bottle for 27 to 30 months. It was disgorged in 2022, given a dosage just over 1 g/L then aged another seven months before release in October 2025.
