Tasting Note This is a lovely, elegant, linear chardonnay — refined but not the least bit weak. The nose is nicely lifted with ripe, almost tropical peach-banana fruit within hazelnut, nutmeg, light toast, floral and creamy notes. It is medium-full bodied, silky yet energized and alive, with some heat and minerality on the finish. There is a real through line of acidity and precision, and the finish doesn’t quit. Outstanding length. A bit lighter on its feet and longer than Alluvium Flow. Tasted June 2025 and March 2026.
Backgrounder Otherwise known as Block 17, the 30 year-old vines have a westerly exposure, benefiting from sun/heat exposure at the end of the day. Coarse and loamy sand play a role here in the lightness and sense of minerality in this bottling. The fruit was hand-harvested and whole-cluster-pressed. It was wild fermented with native vineyard yeasts in new and fourth-fill French oak barrels, went through full malolactic fermentation and was then aged a total of 18 months. It was bottled unfiltered.
