Tasting Note This is a riveting, bone-dry classic of the genre. It pours moderately deep salmon/copper. The nose is immediately pinot noir and piquant with redcurrant, rhubarb, cherry and grapefruit along with considerable sage herbality. It is medium bodied, structured and serious, and a dry, scouring but not austere palate. Alcohol is stated as 12.5% but there is modest warmth here, along with some bitterness. Quite powerful yet balanced with excellent length. Destined for the table, not casual refreshment.
Backgrounder Le Vieux Pin, under the skilled hand of France-born and trained winemaker Severine Pinte, has gained a huge reputation for syrah and whites inspired by the south of France. But her skills are abundantly clear in this 2025 rose as well. This was made the traditional press method not as a “bled-off” by-product of red winemaking. According to LVP, “every decision in the vineyard — from canopy management to harvest timing — was made with the sole intention of creating a rosé of precision, elegance, and finesse.” It was harvested from three vineyard sites, macerated for 23 hours on the skins then traditionally pressed and aged six months in stainless steel.
