Tasting Note – Verdejo is an important white variety in the Rueda region of Spain, near the Duero River north of Madrid. It is a warmer region than B.C, to be sure, but high and dry, as is the Okanagan. And this nicely captures verdejo notes of green pineapple tropicality, but delivers brisk, firm balanced B.C. texture. There is also a vaguely green/minty sauvignon blanc like note in Spanish verdejo that catches here as well. It is medium weight (13.4% abv), lemony, stony and vaguely herbal, with excellent length. 

Backgrounder – Terravista was founded by Senka and Bob Tennant after they sold their famous Black Hills Winery which had pioneered big Bordeaux reds on the Black Sage Bench. They purchased a small vineyard on an upper bench in Naramata in 2008 and steered in a totally different direction, making fresh, exotic whites from Spanish varieties like albarino and verdejo. In 2018 they sold to Eric and Dallas Thor, a wine-smitten Vancouver couple who had purchased and planted the nearby En Terre vineyard. They have held fast to a sustainable vision, and created an exemplary environmentally conscious operation, with their three Naramata Vineyards 100% certified organic in 2025, including livestock integration, cover cropping and intentional pest management. To produce this verdejo the Lone Hand Ranch, Naramata Outlook and Krebb’s Vineyard were hand-picked in two lots – 20 days apart – gently whole-cluster pressed into stainless steel and concrete fermenters (28%) then aged on lees for five months.
